A transit country by geography
Slovenia sits between Austria, Italy, Croatia and Hungary, so many drivers cross it without planning to stop. The motorway network is compact and fast, and the e-vignette applies from the first kilometre.
Categories catch people out
Classification depends on vehicle height and weight rather than on what you call the vehicle. A tall van or camper can sit in a higher category than an ordinary car.
Avoiding the motorway
It is legal and possible to cross on ordinary roads, but the time penalty is significant and some routes pass through congested towns.
